Playa Playing Cards Are Ready
To print out your very own set of Playa Playing Cards, follow the instructions below.
1. Click here to open and download the pdf.
playacards.pdf
2. Print them out at home in color and double-sided. They have been created for 11x17 but can be printed at 8.5x11 (click "fit to page" on your printer options)
3. To get the backs to line up perfectly with the front, take care to set the page in the printer in as close to the same position as possible with each print.
4. Drop them off at your local copy center to have them laminated
5. Cut them into a deck of 54 playa playing cards
You can also have them printed and laminated at
Kinkos or
Staples by simply uploading the .pdf onto their online print shops. Even Staples and Kinkos will have some problems getting the front and the back to line up exactly, so be real nice to the person helping you out.
If you have any problems or questions, email me at elikent@gmail.com
I'd like to thank Tracy, Playa Playing Cards' graphic guru.
I'd also like to thank everyone who submitted their great ideas. PPC will be done each year with different tasks, so keep your mind open to new possibilities while on the playa.
Have a great time this year!!! Come by to see Tracy and me. We'll be camping with pre-dawn (your 5am fix for great music) at 9 o'clock and the outer rim.
Playa Playing Cards
PPC is an annual collaborative and interactive project for
Burning Man. We invite you to be part by:

Printing and bringing a set to share on the playa
The Concept
Playa Playing Cards is a set of 54 playing cards that uses the Playa as its playground. Each card will have a task, dare, or question on it. Here's how it works: You have a Playa Playing Card in your hand, which says , for example, "Let's organize a game of freeze tag". You hand the card off to a stranger, and you and he or she have to complete the task. Afterwards, s/he holds on to the card and passes it on to a stranger of his/her choosing. If the average card changes hands 10 times over the 8-day festival, each deck will create at least 540 unique and spontaneous interactions that would not have happened otherwise.
We are incorporating 2008's theme by lifting our back image from Jean Baudrillard's America.
